An Elegant Church Wedding in Mayfair
I was originally contacted by Cam's (groom) mum, all the way from Australia (!), regarding their wedding that would take place on November 6th, in Mayfair. As the date approached, Lee (bride) and I began talking about details and it was all set to go ahead until England announced a lockdown on Saturday Oct. 31st.
By some miracle, Cam and Lee managed to bring their ceremony forward to the eve of lockdown 2.0, November 4th. Along with three of their closer friends and virtual family from South Africa and Australia, Cam and Lee were married at Farm St. Church in Mayfair. Lee wore a beautiful and elegant Whistles dress that she managed to pick up from alterations the day before the wedding - it really was made for her and it looked beyond stunning.
We walked around the city, taking in the glorious sunny day and the colours of Autumn. Although it was the last day before lockdown, there was a cheer in the city that was so vibrant. Strangers congratulated Lee and Cam at every corner, cheering, saying "Congrats!" and "You made it just in time!", sharing their beaming smiles. People sitting outdoors at restaurants cheered as they shared a kiss on Mount Street and it added to the elation of their day.
There was so much happiness in Cam and Lee's eyes. Their spontaneity to bring their wedding day forward was so rewarding as they finally were husband and wife. Even though this may not have been the way they envisioned their wedding day to go, I am sure they will always remember that Wednesday afternoon in Mayfair, on November 4th, 2020.
